But, what type of bottled water should you drink—mineral, springdistilled, or purified? Different Types of Bottled Water Available in Florida

First, let’s talk briefly about the different types of water out there. There are other types of water in addition to tap/municipal, but what exactly are the differences between them?

Mineral water – mineral water naturally contains many dissolved minerals—iron, calcium, sulfate, potassium, magnesium, etc., and contains at least 250 PPM (parts-per-million) of total dissolved solids (TDS). To bring some perspective to this statement, tap water generally has 300 to 400 PPM. Because this water adds essential minerals to your body, drinking this water each day can help you enhance your overall health.

Spring Water – spring water is water from a natural underground source that contains some nutrients and minerals. This water is collected at the source (usually with a borehole) and then filtered to remove potential contaminants. This natural and great tasting water contains no additives, which makes it a healthy hydration option.

Purified water – the purest water on the market, purified water refers to the actual quality of water. There a number of different ways water can reach this quality, including distillation, reverse osmosis, ion exchange, and more. In order to be classified as purified water, the water must have less than 10 PPM—which is extremely pure. In fact, most impurities (about 99 percent) are removed.

Distilled water – are you ready for the big shocker? Many people don’t realize that distilled water is actually a type of purified water! It’s called distilled water because it goes through a process called distillation to remove the impurities. Distillation entails boiling the water, capturing the steam (pure water) and condensing it back into H2O. Distilled water contains no bacteria and a very little amount of contaminants—with a PPM of about one, it can be classified as purified water!

Which Is Better for You, Distilled or Purified Water?

As you may gather from the information above, there is essentially no difference between purified and distilled water, aside from the purification process. Distilled water goes through distillation, while purified water is processed by other means (reverse osmosis, sand filtration, ion exchange, etc.).

For water to be classified as purified, the TDS count must be less than 10 PPM. Since both purified and distilled water have a PPM no higher than 2, this makes both types of water equally great for your body!

Should I Choose Distilled Water or Purified Water for My Home or Office?

Water Boy uses a rigorous, multi-step purification process using ozonation and reverse osmosis, to remove all the chemicals and dissolved solids from your water. Because your health is important to us, our water contains very low sodium levels—less than 1 milligram per each 8 ounce serving!

Both purified and distilled water are extremely pure—in fact, the purest you can find. The water you choose to drink is entirely up to your personal preference since they are both equally healthy.
